Overview of the Exchange Student Program
We accept students from overseas universities that have student exchange agreements with our university for periods of two or four semesters (four to twelve months).
The accepted exchange students will take classes, live in dormitories, participate in club activities, and participate in extracurricular activities alongside regular students at our university.

| Eligibility Requirements | Applicants must meet all of the following conditions. (1) Unless otherwise agreed, regular students enrolled in overseas universities (partner institutions) with which The University of Nagano has an exchange student agreement, who are in their second year or higher at the time of their study abroad. (2) Those who will not graduate from their university during their study abroad period (3) Those who possess the necessary Japanese language proficiency, academic ability, and English language proficiency for their studies, and who are recommended by a partner school. (4) Those who are in good physical and mental health and have no obstacles to studying abroad. (5) Persons who, upon participating in the exchange program, are willing to abide by the rules and regulations and guidance of The University of Nagano as an exchange student under the applicable Japanese laws and student exchange agreement. |
| Study abroad period and duration | Select one of the following: [For the second semester] Spring semester (1st to 2nd semester): April to early August Fall semester (3rd to 4th semester): September to early February of the following year [For the fourth term] Spring semester (1st to 4th semester): April to early February of the following year Fall semester (3rd semester to 2nd semester of the following year): September to early August of the following year *This university uses a four-term system. The first term begins in early April, the second term ends from late July to early August, the third term begins in late September, and the fourth term ends from late January to early February. | Language requirements | Applicants must have a proficiency level equivalent to or higher than N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (organized by the Japan Association for International Education and the Japan Foundation for International Exchange). An online interview may be conducted. |

| Regarding course registration | At The University of Nagano, each class session is 100 minutes long. By law, exchange students must take at least 10 hours of classes per week (each class session is counted as 2 hours). Course registration must be completed within the designated period. | About the dormitory | Exchange students will, in principle, be assigned to Zozan Dormitory, the student dormitory of The University of Nagano. Rooms are typically shared by two people, but there is a possibility that they may be assigned to a single room depending on the circumstances. Monthly dormitory fees and utilities are the responsibility of the international student (approximately 30,000 yen). Bedding must be purchased separately (approximately 10,000 yen). Buddy System
Exchange students can receive support from a buddy student at our university.
We will support you in all aspects of your study abroad experience, including daily life, studies, culture, and environment, to ensure it is fulfilling.
