Entrepreneurship Course
This is a rare course even among national and public universities in Japan.
This program aims to cultivate knowledge about entrepreneurship, business succession, and second-time entrepreneurship, fostering the conceptual and practical skills, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset, to launch new businesses that address social and regional challenges, fostering a broad perspective and flexible thinking. The key is understanding "what philosophy guides your business." We will explore management practices that benefit society.

Skills you will acquire in four years
1. Entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is a highly essential skill in today's business environment.
At our university, we not only cultivate this spirit through lectures, but also provide opportunities and triggers for students to take on challenges from their time at school, centered around Center for Social Innovation Initiatives (CSI). We cherish the budding spirit of challenge and help students develop the behaviors of entrepreneurs.

2. Business planning skills and management analysis skills
In the mandatory "Introduction to Curation" course, students learn the fundamentals of value creation through interactive, dialogue-based classes.
Students acquire knowledge from various specialized subjects, including marketing. They can also choose courses that integrate this knowledge and compile it into a sustainable business plan, thereby developing solid planning and management analysis skills.

Kanaha Yano
One of its attractions is the abundance of opportunities to apply practical skills, both inside and outside the university.
I wanted to continue learning English and work in an interesting local field. That's why I chose Entrepreneurship Course. I wanted to work in the local community because, starting in my second year of high school, I had more opportunities to meet adults and business owners who were active in the community, and I became interested in the excitement of creating things in the community.
Entrepreneurship Course is What I find appealing is that it values practical experience and offers learning opportunities that can be applied both inside and outside the university. Currently, I am focusing on creating a sustainable system for "JIBUN-born Traveling Lab," a project I have been working on for the past three years.
My graduation research will focus on dialogue and social innovation, specifically studying the concept of the middle voice. I plan to attend dialogue sessions, observe and analyze them, and demonstrate the value of dialogue and what emerges from it.

Message from the teacher
Learn the fundamentals of developing the skills to explore and pursue what you truly want to do.
When I talk to people who have moved to Nagano Prefecture, I find that many of them value "what it means to be themselves" and "what they want to do," and they chose Nagano Prefecture as a place where they could realize those things.
We want our students to learn the fundamentals of exploring and putting into practice what they want to do. In addition, Entrepreneurship Course fosters entrepreneurship and cultivates individuals who can create change. This includes not only starting one's own business, but also proactive job placement where students bring their own business models to existing companies, and second-generation businesses for family businesses that lack successors.
As time has passed since the university's founding, various achievements have been made, such as students starting their own companies. It is important for students to launch some kind of project while they are still in school and to gain solid experience through repeated successes and failures.

Professor Ohmuro Nobuyoshi
Specialization: Social Innovation

I want them to develop the ability to think for themselves and make their own decisions.
Tsuchimochi-sanI did design work during my internship, and the content of Professor's "Introduction to Curation" course was very helpful. I appreciate that the professor provides practical lessons.
Professor AkibaThat's training in "value creation," so I think it has a wide range of applications. The entrepreneur course consists of foundational subjects and specialized subjects such as marketing and organizational theory, but what's important is what happens afterward. The goal is to integrate the knowledge learned in each subject, transform it into living wisdom within oneself, and develop the ability to think and make decisions independently using that wisdom. The emphasis on interactive lessons and helping students develop a learning cycle are all for that very reason.

Tsuchimochi-sanThe "Social Business Planning" class is where you learn how to integrate that knowledge. It's exciting to think about creating a sustainable business plan based on your own ideas.

Professor AkibaYou'll use the knowledge you've learned to put together a business plan, and in the latter half, you'll create a business plan and financial projections, and even give a presentation to raise funds.
Being in an environment where many people are willing to take on challenges is inspiring.
Tsuchimochi-sanI heard that after the classes end, the students who have worked on various assignments are crying tears of joy together. It sounds tough, but also incredibly interesting. I often use CSI, and I really feel that this university has a lot of people who are struggling to try new things, or who have already started... people with stories to tell.
Professor Akiba: That's right. I also get emails all the time from students who want to start something and ask for advice. Entrepreneurs are people who start new things, so I want you to observe and learn from those who are already taking on challenges. hey.
